DDC Summer Programs 2024 Information
DDC is pleased to offer an exciting and engaging selection of summer programs to the community! We offer three weeks of Dance Camp for ages 4-10 and Intensive Dance Workshop programs for ages 10 and up for Summer 2024.
As part of our program, dancers perform on stage at the University of Delaware Campus.
For members of our Youth Dance Ensemble and Performing Company we hold exclusive workshops at the end of summer to prepare for the upcoming season. Click on Performance Groups for more information.
One-Week Dance Camps
No previous dance experience is required to enjoy dance camps at DDC! In fact, this is an excellent way to introduce your child to the art of dance!
Drop off as early as 8:30 am and pick up as late as 5:30 pm is included in the camp price. The camp program runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Pick up on Friday is after the 6:00 pm camp performance at Mitchell Hall.
The camp day will run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, a fully costumed 6pm performance will showcase the campers and all they have learned. A half day option from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm is also available. Campers may be dropped off as early as 8:30 am and picked up as late as 5:30 pm at NO additional cost. (Half Day Campers must be picked up at 1:00 pm EXCEPT on Friday when all campers stay the entire day.) Our staff and campers will be transported by school bus to the theatre where they will have a dress rehearsal to prepare for the 6:00 pm Show. Campers will have a group photo time immediately following the performance and then be dismissed by group to their families at the conclusion of the event.
A typical camp day includes two dance classes and two choreography sessions where the campers learn their choreography for the performance on Friday. Two craft/educational sessions as well as snack & lunch breaks with movie time and rest time round out the day.
COST is $195/half-day or $325/full day. New students pay a $40 registration fee.

First Focus and Intensive Dance Workshops
First Focus Dance Workshops
First Focus workshops are perfect for dancers 10 to 12 years of age who have just begun to have a serious, focused interest in dance training. Dancers must have completed at least two years of dedicated ballet training (DDC Ballet 2/ 2X). Each day will consist of two technique classes. The classes may be both ballet or one ballet and one in an additional style. Similarly, there will be two choreography sessions per day and two pieces will be prepared for the Friday performance. Participants will also have a daily educational class to learn about hair preparation, proper stretching, preparing for pointe work, sewing pointe shoes, good nutrition, proper dance etiquette, and more.
Intensive Workshops
Intensive Dance Workshops will be offered for intermediate level dancers (12-14 yrs, DDC Levels 3/3X) and advanced level dancers (13 yrs and up, DDC Levels 4 through Advanced). Each Workshop day will have two technique classes and two choreography sessions. Dancers will prepare two pieces for performance on Friday evening. DDC Performing Company and Youth Dance Ensemble each have a dedicated week of workshop for members only.
While enrollment in the full workshop is encouraged, participants may choose to register for one class per day, Mon through Thursday, at the Class Only rate.
All workshops meet from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the DDC studios in Newark. Participants may be dropped off as early at 8:30 am and picked up as late 5:30 pm. All dancers younger than 12 years must be signed in and out. Pick up on Friday will be after the performance.
Cost: $375 for one week. New students pay a $40 registration fee.

Summer Evening Session
DDC’s Six-week summer session offers classes for young dancers wishing to try a class with only a short-term commitment as well as for dancers who wish to stay in shape and improve their technique over the summer. Tuition for the six weeks varies from $90 for a 45 min class to $175 for a two hour class.
