SHERRY HIOTT
Sherry Hiott has been teaching and coaching classical ballet dancers for more than thirty years. Her dance training began with Jaqueline Longchamps of the Boston Conservatory of Music School and attended Boston Ballet School. Later Ms. Hiott studied with Kathleen Crofton who invited her to join her company, Niagara Frontier Ballet/Festival Ballet of NY. David Howard awarded her full scholarship at Harkness House for Ballet Arts NY and she also studied at the school of the Houston Ballet at the professional level.
Ms. Hiott has served as a Ballet Mistress for both the Galveston Ballet Company and the Corpus Christi Ballet Company. In Galveston, she set a full length Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle and Don Quixote. At Delaware Dance Company, she has choreographed for numerous school concerts and for Galas, as well as productions of The Nutcracker and Cinderella. Additionally, she has served as Assistant to the Director at Munro Ballet Studios and taught for the Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet.
Ms. Hiott has trained to teach in the Russian method with Kirov/Gitis ballet masters including Janina Cunova and former American Ballet Theater ballet master Jurgen Schneider. She attended the David Howard Teacher Training Workshop at the University of North Carolina, and by invitation, the teacher’s workshop at Juilliard in NY, and has completed the Teacher-Training Course at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, led by Marcia Dale Weary. She is a certified teacher of Revolutionary Principles of Movement (RPM), movement motivation based on anatomy and kinesiology for all body types. Ms. Hiott is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) in all three levels. She has coached dancers for the Youth America Grand Prix Ballet Competition since 2005 some of whom have successfully scored in the top twelve in classical or contemporary dance categories and gone on to professional careers in dance.
