Sunshine Webster-Latshaw began her dance training under Anna Schaeffer near Baltimore, Maryland. Subsequently, she continued her formal instruction at the Delaware Dance Company. Additionally, Ms. Latshaw attended the School of the Pennsylvania Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet School, and the Burklyn Ballet Theatre, where she had the privilege of working with renowned instructors such as Lupe Serrano, Trinette Singleton, and Cherie Noble. During her time at the Joffrey Ballet, she was selected to participate in a special workshop with the late Margot Fonteyn, an experience she holds in high regard.

Ms. Latshaw pursued her dance career as a member of The Maryland Ballet before enrolling at The University of the Arts. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Dance Education. While at the university, Ms. Latshaw immersed herself in modern dance, collaborating with local companies like Archetype Dance and Koresh Dance Company. This exploration of contemporary forms ignited a passion within her.

In recognition of her dedication and expertise, Ms. Latshaw returned to the Delaware State Dance Company as Ballet Mistress in 1993. She assumed the role of DDC Artistic Director in 1999. Drawing on her extensive experience working with dancers of various ages, she has developed a unique teaching style that emphasizes inclusivity, positivity, discipline, and focus in the classroom. Ms. Latshaw has attended the CPYB Teacher Training program and is a Certified PBT instructor.  She has served on the National Board of Regional Dance America.

For the past ten years, she has served as an instructor and choreographer for the Dance Minor program at the University of Delaware. Ms. Latshaw is a certified Jazzercise instructor, melding her love of dance and fitness, and leading multiple sessions weekly. She is committed to offering a range of dance forms and learning opportunities through DDC to her students and the broader community.
