LUIZ GUSTAVO MADUBIKE

Luiz Gustavo Madubike is from Sao Paulo, Brazil. He studied at Escola do Teatro Bolshoi in Brazil, where he became well versed in classical and contemporary dance. While at Bolshoi, he was highlighted as a soloist in the “Russian Dance” in The Nutcracker by Vladimir Vassiliev and in the “Polovtsianian Dance” in the opera Prince Igor.

After graduating from Bolshoi in 2014, he studied with the Lamondance contemporary company in Vancouver, Canada, where he danced many principal roles, and performed with The Royal City Youth Ballet Company as a prince in The Nutcracker. In 2016, he continued his professional career in the United States with the Virginia National Ballet, where he danced for two years as a soloist. Luiz Gustavo performed as a guest artist with Olney Ballet Theater and as choreographer and teacher at Séber Method Academy.

In 2018, he joined First State Ballet Theatre (FSBT) in Wilmington, Delaware and continued dancing there through the 2020 season. While at FSBT, he performed many roles, including “Quincey Morris” in Dracula, a premiere by Viktor Plotnikov. He also choreographed “Red2”, a brand new creation. He has performed as a guest in DDC’s The Nutcracker and choreographed for the Youth Dance Ensemble and Performing Company.

His piece, “Choros” was chosen for performance in the Emerging Choreographers Concert at the 2022 RDA/NE Festival and his piece “Cintilante” for the Festival Concert at the 2023 RDA/NE Festival. He has been an instructor at Delaware Dance Company since the Fall of 2021.
