BRITTANY SLANAC
Brittany Slanac has been dancing since age 3, studying primarily at Ballet Westmoreland Academy under the direction of Marsha Kulik and Nicolas Petrov and at Point Park’s International Summer Dance Program. She graduated from The Johns Hopkins University, where she had the opportunity to work closely with Marilyn Byers and to attend intensive workshops with Alberto del Saz, director of the Nikolais Louis Foundation for Dance in New York City. For her work leading the Johns Hopkins University’s Modern Dance Company and creating an after school dance program for nearby Baltimore elementary schools, she was awarded the President’s Commendation for Achievement in the Arts.
Brittany has taught at a number of studios, including The Dance Dimension in Columbia, MD, and the School of Dance at the JCC in Austin, TX, where she spent time as the program director.
Since 2013, she has been a faculty member at Delaware Dance Company and has served as the Coordinator of the School of Dance at the Western Family YMCA, where she founded and directs their Performing Company. Brittany began her journey as a Registered Yoga Teacher in 2005 and has been teaching yoga, Pilates and barre classes at studios and gyms since then. She currently lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two young children, and dog.
